Dear Touchet School District Families,
It’s hard to believe that we are a little over a month away from starting the new school year. The first day of school for Touchet students is Wednesday, September 8th. With the guidelines for schools and all Washington residents continuing to change, we will need to remain flexible and ready to adjust our plans as we begin the 2021-2022 school year. It is crucial that families continue to watch our website (Touchet.k12.wa.us) and social media accounts for any changes or updates in the weeks leading up to the first day of school.
We are counting on beginning the school year with full-time instruction five days per week. Our district will continue to put the health and safety of our students and staff as a top priority. As we prepare for students’ return, there are some continued safety measures that we will need to follow:
- Students and staff will maintain at least 3 feet of distance indoors as often as possible, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Washington Department of Health (DOH), and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
- Classrooms and restrooms will be disinfected daily, cleaned, and sanitized throughout the day. Lunch areas will also be cleaned and sanitized when in use.
- Students riding the bus will have available to them hand sanitizer when they board the bus. Weather permitting, the windows to the bus will remain open for better air circulation. Bus drivers will wipe down and disinfect the bus at the end of the morning and afternoon routes.
At the time of this writing (and as always, subject to change), face masks will be required of all students and staff while indoors, regardless of their vaccination status. Students will have the option of wearing a mask outdoors. This is the current requirement from Washington DOH and the Washington State Governor’s office. All Local School Districts will adhere to this rule.
Other important updates for Touchet students and families. The school day will begin at 8:05 a.m. and release time at 2:40 p.m. for ALL Touchet students M,T,TH, F. New this year will be Early Release Wednesday’s. Students will be released at 2:00 p.m. every Wednesday to allow for teacher professional development. We will continue using the main entrances to each of the buildings as the main entrances for arrival and dismissal.

Estimadas familias del distrito escolar de Touchet,
Es difícil creer que estamos a poco más de un mes de comenzar el nuevo año escolar. El primer día de clases para los estudiantes de Touchet es el miércoles 8 de septiembre. Con las pautas para las escuelas y todos los residentes de Washington que continúan cambiando, tendremos que permanecer flexibles y listos para ajustar nuestros planes al comenzar el año escolar 2021-2022. Es fundamental que las familias sigan viendo nuestro sitio web (Touchet.k12.wa.us) y las cuentas de las redes sociales para detectar cualquier cambio o actualización en las semanas previas al primer día de clases.
Contamos con comenzar el año escolar con instrucción de tiempo completo cinco días a la semana. Nuestro distrito continuará poniendo la salud y la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal como máxima prioridad. Mientras nos preparamos para el regreso de los estudiantes, hay algunas medidas de seguridad continuas que tendremos que seguir:
- Los estudiantes y el personal mantendrán al menos 3 pies de distancia en el interior con la mayor frecuencia posible, según lo recomendado por los Centros para el Control de Enfermedades (CDC), el Departamento de Salud de Washington (DOH) y la Oficina del Superintendente de Instrucción Pública (OSPI).
- Los salones de clases y los baños se desinfectarán, limpiarán y desinfectarán diariamente durante el día. Las áreas de almuerzo también se limpiarán y desinfectarán cuando estén en uso.
- Los estudiantes que viajen en el autobús tendrán disponible un desinfectante para manos cuando suban al autobús. Si el clima lo permite, las ventanas del autobús permanecerán abiertas para una mejor circulación del aire. Los conductores de autobús limpiarán y desinfectarán el autobús al final de las rutas de la mañana y de la tarde.
En el momento de escribir este artículo (y como siempre, sujeto a cambios), Se requerirán máscaras faciales para todos los estudiantes y el personal mientras estén en el interior , independientemente de su estado de vacunación. Los estudiantes tendrán la opción de usar una máscara al aire libre. Este es el requisito actual del Washington DOH y de la oficina del gobernador del estado de Washington. Todas las escuelas locales se adherirán a esta regla.
Otras actualizaciones importantes para los estudiantes y las familias de Touchet. El día escolar comenzará a las 8:05 am y el tiempo de salida a las 2:40 pm para TODOS los estudiantes de Touchet M, T, TH, F. Nuevo este año será el miércoles de salida temprana. Los estudiantes saldrán a las 2:00 pm todos los miércoles para permitir el desarrollo profesional de los maestros. Continuaremos utilizando las entradas principales de cada uno de los edificios como las entradas principales de llegada y salida.
